Your rides are yours.
Hold My Bike works without an account and without the internet. What leaves your iPhone, leaves for a reason you chose, and you can take it all or delete it.
On your iPhone
Every ride is recorded on the phone: power, cadence, speed, heart rate and, from a chest strap, the time between heart beats. Each ride is kept as a FIT file, with your plan, your workouts and climbs and your settings (FTP, weight, maximum heart rate). From Apple Health, if you allow it, the app reads last night's heart rate variability, resting heart rate and sleep to tell how ready you are; these stay on the phone. If you turn it on, rides are written to Apple Health.
With an account
You can sign in with Apple to connect Strava, use the coach, add friends and ride together. Our backend runs on Supabase in the European Union (Frankfurt). It keeps:
- Your account: the identifier Apple gives and, if Apple shares it, an email address. The name Apple shares stays on your phone.
- Strava: when you connect it, Strava's tokens, encrypted. A ride goes to Strava as its FIT file, with its heart rate and beats, only when you upload it or turn on automatic uploads.
- The coach: a ride's totals and intervals (no second by second data), your question, and only "good", "fair" or "low" for last night's readiness, never the values. These go to Anthropic's Claude through our backend to write the answer; we keep the answer, not the question.
- Friends: the name you choose for friends, your invite code and who your friends are.
- Climbs with friends: when you share them, how far along a climb's road you were each second. No power, heart rate or FTP.
- Group rides and plans with friends: who rides, which workout and when; during a ride, where each rider is goes to the others and is not kept. A plan with friends keeps its questionnaire answers without anyone's FTP.
- Routes: the town you search for and the loop's start go to OpenRouteService to make the route; we only count how many you asked for today.
What we never do
No ads, no tracking, no selling of data. Data from Strava's API is never sent to the coach. Apple Health data never reaches our backend.
Take it or delete it
In the app, Profile, Your data, Export your data gives you every ride as a FIT file with your rides, workouts, climbs and plan as JSON. Profile, Account, Delete account deletes your account and everything our backend keeps for it, at once; rides on your iPhone stay until you delete the app.
Questions about your data: write to the address on the App Store page of Hold My Bike.
